Searching For Fred Weilding B abt 1889
Posted by Sandy Loughman <seasidesandy@yahoo.com> on Mon, 11 May 2009
Hello..My father, Roy Brouwer, and his brother, Ray, were
born either in Milbank, SD (Or in the surrounding area) on June 5, 1919. Their birth parents were Hannah Weckwerth Holmquist and Fred Weilding. They were adopted by Clara and Bernard Brouwer from Spearfish, SD, in Feb 1920 through the South Dakota Children's Society. I have a copy of the adoption papers to confirm this information is accurate.
The Holmquist family have given me some wonderful information about my grandmother, Hannah Weckwerth. However, no one seems to know anything about Fred Weilding. He was married to Hannah when her husband was listed as missing in action in WWI. The adoption papers
state Fred was age 30 (B abt 1889)when the twins were placed for adoption and, Hannah, 24yrs (B abt 1895) It
must have been a heartbreaking situation for everyone, and doubled knowing there were twins to care for.
If anyone can help me find my birth grandfather, Fred Weilding, and his desendants, I would be overjoyed! I
have searched for him in Minnesota and both North & South Dakota vital statistics, but am coming up "empty handed".
Heartfelt Thanks !
