Scott, Have you ever requested birth records from your Thress relatives from Kreuznach? I was sent one from a kind soul who after my writing to the six remaining Thress families in Kreuznach. It was very hard to read her writing, I did have the birth certificate translated by a teacher at the school my son teaches at. And yes the birth certificate was in fact my grandfathers. I would like to find out how to request the certificates myself.
