Thrush family name

Posted by Christopher Stewart Davis <cs.davis24@ntlworld.com> on Sat, 12 Dec 2009, in response to Thrush Family, posted by Joseph D. Thrush on Tue, 14 May 2002

Dear Thomas,
I am a great grandson of Alfred THRUSH, one time Company Sergeant Major, who at the age of 22 marched as part of Lord Roberts column from Kabul to Kandahar. His Kandahar Kabul Star is located in The Rifles Museum Peninsular Barracks, Winchester. His daughter's son is my father; my grandmother and her sister had very different views of the man. Family anecdote says he was a scaffolder after leaving the King's Royal Rifle Corps. Alfred was a direct descendent of John BROUGHTON of Dorking, and had sixteen children. I would be very interested to hear what or if you have an identifiable relationship with Alfred; my sister tells me there are about 250 THRUSHS in the UK.

Best regards,

Christopher
