STECKINGER
Posted by Jon Stigner <jonathanstigner@yahoo.co.uk> on Sun, 04 Dec 2005
Does anyone have any information regarding JOANNES WOLFGANGUS STECKINGER (maybe JOHN WOLFGANG STECKINGER/STIGGENNER/STIGNER) and his brother, FREDERICUS (FREDERICK) STETTINGER (probably a miss-spelling of STECKINGER) who were probably born in the Alsace (in the region of the towns, Selestat and Ebersmunster or Strasbourg). They turn up in Swalmen, in the Limberg district of Holland, in the mid 1740’s. I am trying to find a family link between those Steckingers of the Alsace and the Steckingers of Swalmen whose surname eventually evolved to become STIGNER. The last references to Steckingers living in this region of the Alsace are of ANNE MARIE STECKINGER (born in Selestat after 1655 and married to GEORGES KREMP and died in 1713 at Ebersmunster), and of another ANNE MARIE STECKINGER (widow of JEAN MICHEL BRITACH) who acted as a witness in 1742 at Niedernai. If there any members of the relatively small Steckinger family living today in Germany, Argentina, the United States or indeed anywhere else in the world with any information regarding their family history I would be very happy if you could contact me.Responses
