Rann Goes Back to England

Posted by daniel rann <ranndaniel@netscape.net> on Sun, 27 Apr 2003, in response to Rann family traits, posted by Chris Rann on Sun, 17 Nov 2002

I have traced my father, Robert Charles Rann b. 1917, his father, Robert Carr Rann b. 1894, his father, Henry E. Rann, b. 1850, his father, Albert W. Rann, b. 1818, his father, Alfred Rann (b. 1780?), his father, Joseph Rann b. 1756, who fought in the Revolutionary War and was honored. He was from New Hampshire. I would like to find out who his father was, and my suspicion is that the family came from the Boston area and descend from one of the earliest families to have come to America from England, in Ipswich of Essex, where there are Ranns in the Boyd Marriage Index all the way back to the 1500s. Joseph's children settled in Vermont, then New York (Genessee) and then walked over the frozen Erie to Michigan in 1844. Then Robert Charles Rann, my dad, brought the family name to California. I am in Los Angeles. Anyone with more information on tracing the family line back, drop me an email at ranndaniel@netscape.net. Thanks.
