John W Pierce, born 1827 Rhode Island
Posted by Catherine Buchholz <pierce@ellisforde.com> on Sun, 13 Feb 2011
I'm searching for the family of my great-great grandfather, John W. Pierce, born about 1827 in Rhode Island. (I believe the "W" may have stood for WATERMAN, as that name was given to his grandson "as a family name").. John was employed as a sailor for most of his life "Sailing around the Horn", eventually settling in Whatcom county, Washington Territory by 1879. He married the Widow of Thomas Ramsey who had 8 children (by Thomas Ramsey). John & Mary had 2 children of their own, Elizabeth (born 1880) and Arthur W. (born 1883) I have found many "Pierces'" named Arthur and Elizabeth in the Province, RI area in the early 1800's but can not make positive connections to these families as yet. I hope to find information on this branch of my family.Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
