Parkers from upstate New York and Michigan
Posted by Donald Parker <parkerd48@sbcglobal.net> on Fri, 02 Apr 2010
I have just resumed my search to find any information on the family of William Parker who lived in the upstate New York area around 1800. William had a son - Wells Parker. According to Wells’ obituary, William had over ten children.I have found only one of Well’s siblings named Allen. My arm of the Parker family seemed to be very concentrated in the upstate New York area, particularly in Lewis, Herkimer and Jefferson Counties. Also Champion and Lowville.
From the research I have done, there are all kinds of Parkers in that area at the same time but I can not connect my Wells with any of them.
If it helps, Wells et al spent some time in Champion New York and the Watertown area.
Wells (my great great grandfather) was married twice. The first was to Amanda Henderson from the Watertown area.. They had two children John and Lenora.
His second wife was Catherine Loucks and was from Herkimer County New York.
They had Charles, Frank, Sidney, Lavina, and George Wells Parker. Wells and Catherine moved from New York and settled in Michigan (St Clair and Sanilac Counties) around 1850.
If anyone has a connection to Wells et al I would love to hear from them.
