Surname De Salvo

Posted by Donna De Salvo <DhanaJ8@yahoo.com> on Thu, 01 Oct 2009, in response to origin of name de Salvo, posted by Brian de Salvo on Thu, 27 Nov 2008

My maiden name was Donna De Salvo, and I was told it meant "Lady of Salvation" in Italian. The original spelling was actually Di Salvo, and some of my father's uncles kept that spelling, however, my grandfather's family chose to stick to the De Salvo spelling given to them in Ellis Island. I was told his family came from Naples and Abruzzo(I may have spelled that wrong). The De Salvo spelling is really the way Spanish would spell it.
