Cortez/Cortes does not mean one is a Jew, or even had
Jewish ancestors.

What makes one a Jew is having a Jewish mother.
If one can prove they have an unbroken, maternal
Jewish lineage, they are a Jew.

A last name that "may" be Jewish is not sufficient
evidence that one is, indeed a Jew.
