My family heritage

I was told I was born in Chapman Ranch County , Texas. Never new my real father. My mother is Mary Joe Dorrough. She was born in Corpis Kristi Texas. I just wanted to know how I can find out my background and really where I was born, and my real name at birth.. Its very hard unless I get a lawyer and have him unseal the document that my mother had closed years ago. What are your thoughts.
