the name 'dionne'

Posted by Dionne Dee Owens (maiden: Jones) <dionnedeeowens@yahoo.com> on Sun, 15 Mar 2009, in response to 2 all the beautiful Dionnes, posted by Dionne nazareth on Tue, 16 Sep 2008

I'm a 'Dionne' as well. My parents told me long ago, that I was named after Dionne Warwick. They just liked the name. When I was growing up, I often thought that Dionne was odd and sounded 'harsh'. It was espcecially weird growing up in Germany - it's hard enough for 'americans' to pronounce and spell 'dionne'. HA! Now that I am older, I love my name. It's different and people compliment me on my name all the time, eventhough people are still not able to pronounce or spell it.
I've however learned to appreciate my unique name and will thank my parents (when I see them next) for giving it to me.
*Dionne, ...One of the Divine Ones.
