Searching for father and his roots
Posted by Slaney <brrms1@aol.com> on Mon, 08 Oct 2001
PLEASE help me find my long lost father - John Vincent Slaney. He emigrated from New Foundland (?Harbour Main) in the 1920s and became involved with the early Labor movement in the U.S. His mother fearing the results of divorce, communicated with the then Pope for special dispensation for him and his wife (Ruth). He went on to marry Grace and moved on to California, where I lost contact with him. Apparently, he raised another family. I should so like my children to have awareness of this side of my family (their siblings, etc.)- to say nothing of my own deep need to. As I read the posted messages, I finally have come to realise that losing family members is not only my great sadness - there are so many of us.Responses
