Kilduff family
Posted by Heather <marshmellow100@yahoo.com> on Tue, 30 Dec 2008, in response to Hello Rebecca, posted by Patricia Kilduff on Tue, 10 Feb 2004
Hi Patrica,My great grandfather, John Henry from what I was told was staying at a boarding house in Boston where he met his Sarah whose family was running the house.
My Kilduff family is also tracked to Roxbury, my Uncle may have been "Jack" Kilduff. His birth name was John Henry Kilduff but went by Jack since he was John Jr. From what I was told in the family he served in World World 2 in the military and was captured by the German army and held in one of the camps. He was freed and returned to America. He then went on to serve to in the Boston Police department. He married and had one child, a girl however I don't know her name. I believe I have pictures of her in the family photo album. He passed away and his wife remarried and moved away.
He had a brother named Robert James Kilduff, my father, who was the youngest in the family. He passed in 2000 at the age of 59.
There was a sister, Margaret who died at the age of 14 from ovarian canacer.
Finally there was a brother Francis James Kilduff who was born with Down's Syndrome who was instuitionalized in his teen years.
The relitive you speak of James F - the F may stand for Francis, another family name.
This whole Irish tradiation of naming family member after each other makes the whole searching process rather difficult.
I also have the traditional "Kilduff look". That dark hair and eyes runs with the last name "Of the Dark Haired lad"
