'Mathangi'a term treated with disrespect through out the Telugu land. Not many know that the term signifies the manifestations of shakti or siva, they know that mathangi is referred to the girls/women dedicated to serve the god in the village temples they are married to the god and they are vulnerable targets for the lust of men of the village and often lead their life by prostitution. This shameful practice still exists in many districts of Andhra Pradesh.
