Origin of Seay
Posted by Sandy Seay <sandy@seay.us> on Thu, 28 Feb 2008, in response to where does the name "Seay" originate, posted by brian mackay on Sun, 05 Aug 2007
Seay has 3 origins that I have been able to find. (1)In England, from de Sai or Say; (2) in the south of Ireland, as a part of the O'Shea clan, spelled O'See; and (3) in the north of Ireland, in County Down, probably as a Norman name, perhaps related to the English line but if so, very distantly. Members of the Down family moved to Scotland in the early 1800's so if you have family in Aberdeen, they are very likely from the Down family.Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
