What Amelia means

What does my name Amelia mean? The name Amelia (Aa-mee-yah) is said to be related to the name Emily and as such shares the same meaning and origin. It is of Latin and Old German origin and is a combination of the Latin word Emilia, meaning industrious and eager and the German name Amalia which also means hard working and beloved of the Lord.
The variants of the name are Emma, Amy, Melia, and Pamela. The Princess Amelia (1711-1786), second daughter of King George II was a famous bearer of the name which resulted in the name becoming popular in the UK. The novelist Henry Fielding (1707-1754) penned the name Amelia for the protagonist of his novel also of the same name. Amelia Earhart (1897-1937) was one of the early female pilots in Aviation history.
The name Amelia (A-mee-il-yah) means in Arabic rose or in some other languages means beautiful, like a rose so it wouldn't even matter which way you would like to use it because they both practically mean the same thing.
