good morning,i just saw your query pertaining to the origin of your name.if i could make a few suggestions? find someone that speaks arabic because most africans in the western hemisphere come from west africa and arabic is influential whether one is or became a muslim or not.look at ' roots ' and see kunta kinte's parents omoro and binta kinte.as they were muslims look at the name and spelling omoro. a muslim or one who speaks arabic knows that this is umar [omar.omoro].muslims who primarily come from west africa in particular will say umaru [omoroo]where as other muslims in the world will just say umar.your name could be for instance ya' imara .in the qur'an [koran]the 3rd surah [chapter]is al'i'imran =the family of imran.for instance one of the wives of prophet ibrahim [abraham-pbuh]hagar [genesis :16:16]from kemet [egypt]in arabic her name is hajirah[pbuh]from the word hijrah which means to migrate.which did with her husband [pbuh]and son ismail [ishmael[pbuh]from egypt to makkah [mecca].our language is masculine and feminine.also check the languages hausa, wolof, sereri, fulani and mandinka.these languages are predominant in west africa even in enslavement culturally our people either named or used a nickname to idetify us.my mother is called ya'ya.as a muslim i came to find out that the prophet yahya[ya'ya][pbuh]is john the baptist.i will ask sheikh jamal ahmad when he comes in about your name because he is a linguist.i am a student.p.o.box 338-compton,ca.90223Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
