history on my last name

I'd like to learn more about my ancestors and I'm having alot of trouble finding anything that would be accurate or even true. I'd like to know where my last name originally came from, what my ancestors did for a living, etc... Also, I would like to know the different races that make up my family because we all look so different. No one can ever tell what my ethnicity is. My mother looks asian but she's puertorican and my dad is puertorican and taino indian. Anything that would get me started would be greatly appreciated.
