Primeros Zatarain en Mexico

Posted by Luis Zatarain <luiszatarain@hotmail.com> on Fri, 12 May 2006, in response to Otro Zatarain curioso, posted by Juan Luis Zataráin Ochoa on Mon, 07 Feb 2005

Hope you can translate it. This also confused me btw, b/c from my understanding, or at least what my grandparents have told me, Zatarain is of basque origin. However, I haven't gone much into researching it. Hope this is of some help.

This information that you send to Yoli (Yolanda Campos Zatarain, su mamá es de Cofradía Sinaloa y es Gemela)is veridic. In the county of Mazatlán Sinaloa, Mexico, on the little town called Porras, in the Mountains near to Cofradía, Siqueros on the east and near to Puerta de Canoas in the west, were living french people. Also in the history of Mazatlan you can find memories about the battles againts the French Navy. My father born in Porras, he was Rosendo Zatarain and my mother was Loreto Osuna who born on Puerta de Canos, Osuna is also a french last name.
