Cortez or Cortes
Posted by Yarown Yehuda Yehowchanan Cortez <ibnjudah@sbcglobal.net> on Wed, 18 Jan 2006, in response to meaning of cortez, posted by Jaron Cortez on Fri, 01 Jul 2005
This posting is responding to the German man, Mr. Stein. First, thank you for the Sephardim.com web site. It definently helps the Spanish descent people see that they have Jewish Blood or Jewish anscestry. And hopefully they will return to the Laws of YHWH. The Cortez or Cortes surname. The "ez" or "es" does not only mean "son of " but in its full correct meaning it means "son of Zion" or "son of Sion" which is "son of Jerusalem, Israel". See Cortez meaning, surname and origin in the above postings. The argument against the Sephardi (Spanish) Jew has been for ages long by the Ashkenazi (Germans). The Germans and the Germanic Languages traces back to the Kaisers (Caesars) of the Roman Empire. They later were crowned as the King Clovis of most of Europe by the Catholic Church and again became the Caesars that ruled most of Europe. Thus the Spanish Inquisitions (or the destruction of the Jewish people). Now before Spain was Spain (1400's CE) it was The Kingdom of Castile (1000's CE), the Kingdom of Leon (914 CE), the City of Leon (68 CE), Hispania (200 BCE) and before that it was Iberia (300BCE) Thus Spain is the "Iberian Penisula". The word Iberia is a corruption of the word "Eber"ia / Heberia which means "Hebrew's Land". Eber (from whom the word Hebrew derives). The Spanish language comes from Castilian, which comes from Ladino, which comes from the Hebrew language and Hebrew alphabet. Cortez is a jewish or hebrew surname that dates back as far as Iberia. The Cortez name and its meaning is also found in the book title "Sangre Judia" ("Jewish Blood") by Pere Bonnin. A list of 3,500 names used by Jews, or assigned to Jews by the Holy Office (la Santo Oficio) of Spain. The list is a result of a census of Jewish communities of Spain by the Catholic Church and as found in their inquisition records to track the Sephardi Jews that had tried to escape destruction.Responses
