Garman family geneology

I'm a Garman too. My Dad was George Albert Garman, Jr. born June 20, 1921, and raised in Eau Claire, WI. His Dad was Senior, and was the county sheriff in the early teens and twenties of the 1900's.
I've only been able to go back one generation earlier to my great granddad, James Garman, but I don't know where he was born, although it is rumored he was from Maine.
