Hi Laura - Usually when an English surname(Evans,Roberts) ends in s it is Welsh in origin.The s is the Welsh equivelant of the Irish Mc/Mac meaning son of.Of course after the 1st generation
it becomed irrelavant and and becomes defined as "of"
