The mean of a capitalized "De" on a last name

Posted by Darlene Roth <roth_darlene@yahoo.ca> on Sat, 07 May 2005, in response to DePriest, posted by Michael D. De Priest on Sun, 27 Mar 2005

Dear De Priest:

I don't know my father very well but he told me that a capitalized "De" on a last name means "House of" and is a noble bloodline. I have lost contact with my father and his name is Robert DeVarennes.

Yours Sincerely

Darlene Roth
