Searching for step brother

Posted by Abe <abeher@frontiernet.net> on Sun, 13 Feb 2005, in response to SEarching for adopted siblings, posted by amber crouch on Fri, 17 Sep 2004

My wife Diana had a foster brother who lived with her for three years. Her mother had two children which included my wife. Her mother started procedings to adopt little John Lee since he was with them for three years and they recieved him almost new born.

My mother-law and wife were under the impression that the adoption was procedding well when they were notified that little John was adopted and would be taken from them. This has been a painful memory for this family and my wife longs to see John Lee and introduce him to her father who in very poor health.

John Lee was Chineese and my in laws are Puerto Rican. At that point in time there were very few Asian children for adoption and the agency felt that a Chineese couple was better suited even though my in-laws took care of John Lee for three years and went to court to legally addopt him.

Not being familiar with the laws and not having enough money to fight in court, John was taken away the same week my Father-law lost his mother to cancer.

John Lee was taken between 1972 - 1973. He would have been 3 years old. The adopting father was recently returend from Vietnam and couldn't have children. I think he was an engineer and both parents were chineese. My in-laws were Ida and Valentin Vargas and they were fostor parents for Catholic Charaties in NYC.

If anyone out there can help us locate John Lee it would greatly be appreciated.

Thank You,

Abraham
