I never realized that my last name was so...well not common I guess... but that anyone else had it actually. I guess that would be a little arrogant to think we were the only ones but I have never, until now, seen it in print aside from my family. We are Polish. My Dad is from Wroclaw and in Poland is was pronounced "Bartkoov" the w having the v sound. Where are you from exactly? This is all very interetesting.
