White & Black McCottrys

Ty, My name is Kenneth H. McCottry from New York. The answer to your question is in Kingstree, South Carolina, where I was born. The white McCottrys are not blood related to the african-american McCottrys. My Great Great Grandfather Agustus took the McCottry name from his slave master Robert Friendly McCottry. Robert purchased him when he was a baby and raised him as his own son. When Robert died, he left all his property to Gus. I am certain that you and I are related. And you are probably a son of Alvin.
