Johnson meaning

Posted by Richard McMurry <mark@seark.net> on Thu, 16 Sep 2004, in response to Wht does this name mean?, posted by Ryan Johnson on Tue, 27 Jul 2004

This probably doesn't help much but my understanding is that basicly it means "son of John". Which John? Who knows, It's probably so old that the origin is forgotten. Old history trivia..Leif Erickson was the son of Eric the Red, so he was Leif,Eric's son. Over the years it became Erickson.
