Leeds & Grenville Interesting Project
Posted by Nicky <dreadpirate@hotmail.com> on Fri, 20 Aug 2004
Hello,I am a students working with the Col. Edward Jessup Branch of the United Empire Loyalist Association in Leeds & Grenville county, Ontario. We are working on a project specifically for this are called "100 Years - 100 Homes". We have commissioned an artist to sketch homes from the Loyalist period in Leeds & Grenville(approx. 1780's to 1840's) and with the participation of homeowners hope to sell 100 of these professionally framed original works of art to the homeowners for $199 each. This price would include the cost of the artist, the professional framing, two reproductions, and a profit for the organization so that we may continue with other projects, such as badly-needed restoration of old cemeteries in the area. Once all of the pieces are completed we would proceed to research all the homes to include them in a published work titled "100 Years - 100 Homes" to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the UEL coming up in 2014. Homeowners who participate in the project would get to see their home in a published work, where it would last indefinitely (unlike many heritage homes that have already been torn down), and would have first chance at purchasing the book when it is completed. There are thousands of eligible homes in the area but we need to get the word out. If anyone here knows of someone who would be eligible to participate in this project, please pass the message along. They may email me or respond to this post to get more information. Thank you,
- Nicky
