Elzear Montpetit

Hi Lynn,I don't have any information to offer you regarding JB Montpetit and Elmire St Denis but I was hoping you might be able to help me. I'm presently researching Dr Elzear Montpetit (son of André Napoléon, lawyer and man of letters and brother of Edouard Montpetit who played an important role as Secretary General at the University of Montreal.
I've been trying for months to locate a picture of Elzear without much success.
Elzear Montpetit (1869-1938) graduated medicine at Laval University in Montreal in 1893. He later went to the USA to perfect himself (ca 1893-1897). I believe he specialized in gynaecology. He later returned to Mtl and eventually settled (early 1900s) in Rigaud, Quebec where he was Dr in Chief during an ammunitions' exposion in 1918. He later served as Mayor of Rigaud from 1920-23 and 1924-27. He also ran as Deputy to the Legislative Assembly representing Vaudreuil, Quebec but lost this election.
Following his wife's death (Alice Longpré)in 1933, he soon moved to Mtl where he spent his last few years.
It appears he adopted a son Jean who later became a pharmacist. Jean Montpetit married Louisa Pagé in Mtl. They had a dtr Andrée who married Louis Tessier in Outremont in 1963 or 1965.
Despite all his achievements, I've not been able to find a picture of Elzear Montpetit. As well, I'd really like to fill in some of the blanks (eg: where did he study in the USA ? It may have been Rhode Island but I've yet to confirm this) I plan to write an article on him for the "Cercle d'histoire de Rigaud.
Would he somehow fit into the research you're doing ? Would you have any leads ?
As for your research into the Prescott/Russell area, I have several marriage repertoires for that area. Let me know if I can be of any help. I did check for JB and Elmire St Denis but came up empty.
Thanks for reading this and hoping to hear from you.
Regards,
Lorraine
