I think you have a small detail of your information wrong, or I do. Through research, I was under the impression that "Jelte" Mammenga came from Ostfriesland. His name was not Jelto. Though, Jelte did have a son named Jelto, who was born here in the USA.

My father's name is Jerry Mammenga, he is the son of Goral Mammenga, who is the son of Wilhelm Mammenga who is the son of Jelte Mammenga.
