Help tracing roots

Hi,

My name is Ray Lester Jr. I am just starting out in tracing my family name and ancestory as far back as possible. I have decided to start with my father's side of the family to see where it leads to. As you can see, the male side of his family is Lester, my grandmother's maiden name was Keene. If you have any helpful hints to help this beginner out please send me an e-mail. In the subject of the mail please put Lester or Family Tree, this way it won't get deleted. All of your help is greatly appreciated.
