Otis and Brotis Jones
Posted by Danette Jones <djones@decarodoran.com> on Wed, 02 Sep 2009, in response to Otis and or Brotis Jones, posted by Jim Jones on Wed, 30 Jan 2008
Hi Jim. My husband's father was named Otis Conway Jones. Not certain where he was born, but know he would have been born in 1894, specifically, June 25, 1894. He ended up in Maryland, St. Mary's County, Mechanicsville to be exact. My husband's mother was not married to Otis at the time. They had 4 children together, named, fictitiously, Richards. In 2006, Steven and I were going to Guatemala with our church on a missions trip and decided, going to do God's work, to discontinue the lie of the Richards name and changed our name, legally, to Jones. One of the members of a team from North Carolina was named Jones and asked if we might be related. Steven said if you have a relative named Brotis who's a pastor, it's possible. Indeed he did. We didn't get his information, but shared the knowledge that each of their families had a history worth investigating. Recently, Steven and I have discussed trying to track his true family, for the sake of family. I simply searched for Brotis Jones and found your post. Please let me know your Dad's full name, whether he knew if his Dad, Brotis, ultimately ended up in North CArolina and whether he might have become a pastor/reverend. It is indeed a small world, and bringing the proximities even closer makes that small world a blessing, all around. DanetteResponses
