Nembhards of Jamaica

Posted by Keith Allen <klucmoa@yahoo.com> on Sat, 27 Jan 2007, in response to Nembhard surname, posted by Joyce Nembhard on Wed, 10 Dec 2003

I recently came across this thread while searching for information on my family, specifically my great-grandmother Louise Nembhard and great-grandfather Prince Louis Dawkins. What happened? The last posting seems to have been in mid '06. My great-grandmother was from Clarendon and my great-grandfather was from either Manchester or Clarendon (lived in both possibly). Louise was also light complected as many of you said was often the case and possibly of mixed race. Prince was somewhat darker with straight hair. His mother died in childbirth and he was subsequently raised by an aunt (of the Nias? family). He had several brothers and sisters. My ancestors lived on their farm in Breadnut Bottom, Clarendon, called Garden Store, and later, after Hurricane Charlie destroyed their home in the 50's, on a smaller farm in Rosewell.
Obviously, there are many Nembhards and Dawkins' out there, many of them from Jamaica. It would be interesting to find out the connections, if any, between us.
I hope those of you out there searching have picked up the trail. And any of you who have discovered new information that might connect with my search please share so that I can also help.
Incidentally, I'm also interested in a line of my family in Cuba. My great-grandmother's brothers went there to work in the 20's and both stayed and presumably started families (possibly the name continues there).
Their names were Sam and George.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
Keith Allen
