Harland family
Posted by Karen Ciccone <kciccone@optusnet.com.au> on Sun, 10 Apr 2005, in response to HARLANDs, posted by Carole Berman on Sat, 09 Apr 2005
Dear Carol, Thank you for responding as no one else has. My great great grandmother was a Jane Harland, born in Lumley,Durham Co in 1831. Her father was a George Harland who was a miner and Dorothy Harland (Smith). Jane married a James Brown at 22yrs, on Newcastle on Tyne on England in 1853. They had John George,James d.at 3 months, another James who died at 8 months, Dorothy my grandmother, and another James who survived. I haven't searced any further because of commitments. But my mother remembers asking her mother Dorothy what her family's profession was and the answer was they built ships. I do have some notes here printed off the website and it seems Sir Edward Harland didn't have any issue. I would welcome any information please. Kind regards KarenResponses
