Dineen/Deneen Family Cork/Kerry
Posted by Matthew Dineen <mgnat45@yahoo.com> on Mon, 21 Mar 2005, in response to Responding to your message Matthew, posted by Elaine Billings on Sat, 19 Mar 2005
Hi Elaine,Glad to help out. It took me a long time to learn what little I know.
Unfortunately, my Dineen family is in section 15, not 50, at Calvary (But could 50 have been mistake for 15, they sound so alike?). Is Patrick's plot in First Calvary or Second Calvary?
Also, I took out an Irish map yesterday and noticed that Kilgarvan, where my great-grandfather grew up, is up in the hills and much farther south, near Kenmare, than Tralee. But then, I guess they all had to go wherever they could find work.
There still is the eery coincidence of the names Reardon and Dineen in both our families, and Mary Reardon in both.
Next time I get to the cemetery, I'll check out your family's plot as well as ine and see what I can find out. With a date of death, I can get a death record, and that may contain some interesting information about your great-grandmother.
I am married with two children, 15 and 9, no grandkids yet (and I hope it stays that way for a while).
Tupper Lake. That's prety far North in the Adirondacks, right? A couple years ago, I visited the region for the first time, but the only room I could get was near Old Forge. I've heard Tupper Lake is very beautiful. I don't know the twon where you're from.
You're right about Luck of the Irish. And my other correspondent,Hannah Dineen, sent me her e-mail on my birthday! I hope to hear from here again, because it sounds like she has letters from the old-timers that would be great to read. These could be of interest to you too. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything further from Hannah.
