Elizabeth Harland in Whitby, Ontario, Canada

Posted by Richard Carter <richard.carter@peelsb.com> on Fri, 05 Mar 2004, in response to Australian Harlands, posted by Tracey Harland on Wed, 20 Aug 2003

My great, great, great grandmother was an Elizabeth Harland born around 1819 and died in Canada in 1899. She married my great, great, grandfather William Gibson. They lived in Yorkshire - west riding? the one that faces the North Sea. Our oral family tradition has it that Elizabeth Harland was from a branch of the Harland family of/from Northern Ireland. Harland and Wolff(one f??)was the ship building company in Northern Ireland who built the Titanic in Belfast. I received a letter years ago from a Reginald Harland, who sent me a Harland family tree. He is a descendant of those Harlands of Harland and Woolff in Northern Ireland. There was a potential link, but as yet I have not explored it. Anyone have any more information. I'd appreciate it.
