Airlie fAMILY

Posted by Jackie Pement <jpement@telus.net> on Thu, 14 Jan 2010, in response to Jimmy Airlie Longford, posted by Paul H. on Fri, 10 Sep 2004

James Airlie (tailor in Longford) was my great grandfather. My Grandfather was Patrick Airlie who immigrated to Calgary. He arrived in Calgary prior to the first world war went to fight for Canada then came back. He met his wife to be during a hospital stay for injuries when he was gased during the war. He was a long serving school trustee and has a school named after him (the Patrick Airlie Schoolo). He was a carpenter by trade.

He married Lily Olliff and had two daughters. My mother Lily Irene (known as Irene) and Audrey Patricia (my aunt).

My mother passed away June 2007 however my Aunt is still well and living in British Columbia.

I remember seeing pictures of my "Irish" relatives and particularly the sign for James Airlie's shop. We have a lovely framed picture of James Airlie which my brother (Rory) now has. He has the picture in his dining room. I swear they look alike in their features.

I am 64, near the age of Jimmy, my brother Rory just turned 65. We have another brother Patrick (he is 69) who lives part time in Belize and partly in British Columbia (he and his wife are missionaries for the Catholic Church).

I am excited to happen upon the write up and would like to know more about the Irish Airlies.
Sincerely, Jackie Pement
