Honora O'Flynn's Irish Ancestors
Posted by Pat Flynn <pkjf@eircom.net> on Tue, 08 Sep 2009, in response to Honora O'Flynn's ancestors, posted by Mary E. Johnson on Sun, 30 Aug 2009
The ancestral line of the O’Flynn clan of Ulster from Milesus the King of Spain and his eighth son Hermon to Ugani More the King of Ireland at the year 600 BC who made the heir ship to the High Kingship of Ireland hereditary in his descendant line. Later Con of the Hundred Battles, the High King of Ireland from A.D 123 through Cormac McArt’s son Caibre in the second century and to Colla Uais ‘the noble one’ of the Colla Brothers and his descendants through the Hy-Tuirtre Kingship to the present. The Hy-Tuirtre stem is the ancestral line of the Flynn’s/O’Flynn’s/Lynn’s of Ulster and I have followed them down the centuries in some detail until the collapse of their kingdom in 1350 and onwards to the close of the Gaelic Order after 1600. Some of the descendants of the local branch of the clan are then picked up on lands in the plantation economy in townlands on the southern slopes of the Sliabh Beagh Uplands in the early 1800’s. The following Family Tree (Graphic)of the Kings of Ireland for particular relevant years is assembled from notes selected from the Annals of the Four Masters, Ulster Annals and elsewhere that helps with the setting out of an interpretation of the historical framework and the story from beginning to end of the Hy-Tuirtre peoples who served in the principality of an early Ulster Gaelic Kingdom. The numbers included before and after the individuals name indicates that they were a King of Ireland and the period of their reign.Family Tree of the Kings of Ireland from a time shortly after Christ to the establishment of the Hy-Tuirtre Kingdom.
If the Graphic does not transmit I can forward same by e-mail.
