Airlie/Early

Posted by Anne Elliott <a.elliott@tesco.net> on Wed, 10 Jun 2009, in response to Reading your story, posted by Peter Airlie on Tue, 09 Jun 2009

Hi Peter,

Ooooooohhhhhh, I'd so LOVE it if we were related but I don't have any Peter's married to a Mary (yet!). I'll tell you what I do have though:
1. My g.g.uncle Peter Airlie/Early was born in Colmcille, Longford, Ireland in 1867 and died in Dundee 1905. He married Jane Weir in Dundee 1891.
2. The above Peter & Jane had 2 sons named Peter, the first born 1889 and died 1896 in Dundee, the second Peter born 1903 and died 1972 in Dundee.
3. The above second born son Peter, married late in life (he was 50). He married Margaret Robertson Devaney, formerly married to William Law Croll, in Dundee in 1954.

The parents of Peter (1867-1905) were Michael Airlie/Early and Catherine Welsh/Walsh. (In Dundee they were called Airlie & Welsh but in Ireland they were Early & Walsh!) Both were born in Ireland and both died in Dundee.

Siblings of Peter (1867-1905) were:
1. Mary 1861-1908 who married Edward O'Brien.
2. Patrick (my g.g.grandfather) 1863-1917 married Rose Ann McLaughlin. They had 8 kids which included one Peter but he died at just 18 months old.
3. Helen 1865-1893. Never married.
4. Catherine 1869-1891. Catherine never married but had a son named David Roger Airlie in 1890. He married Jane Cassidy Beattie 1886-1918. I can't find any trace of David after Jane's death!
5. Margaret 1871-1896 married Thomas Kilduff.
6. John 1873-1914. Never married.
7. Michael 1880-1884.
8. Rose Ann 1881-1920 married Charles Smith.
9. Joseph born and died 1883.

Do any of the above connect with your Peter's?

Best Regards

Anne
