Wigington

My gfather said his father was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. We can find no proof because we don't know his name. My gfather went by John Wesley Rippy. We do know by DNA we had done on our father he was a Wigington. Does DNA show if you have Indian blood in you or do you have to have a special test done? Thanks Doris
