Clement Briggs

Posted by Lila Watkins <LilaWat@msn.com> on Thu, 16 Apr 2009, in response to Clement Briggs, posted by Kathleen Mary Feuling on Tue, 24 Feb 2009

I'm hoping your e-mail address is still good. My Grandmother was a Briggs. I have some family papers that show a Clement Briggs came to the US on the Ship Fortune in 1621 and landed in Weymouth Mass. The notation made by a family member on the document says his descendants settled all over the US. If this is your Clement Briggs he was related somehow to the John Briggs of Newport, 1609 to 1690 who settled in Rhode Island. Some of John's descendants left Rhode Island and by the 1700's had settled in Dutchess County, New York. From there they re-located to Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
