Gilfeather origin.

Posted by Rory Darcy <ruadhri44@yahoo.com> on Sun, 15 Feb 2009, in response to Hello all Gilfeather's, posted by shane gilfeather on Mon, 23 Dec 2002

The name Gilfeather comes from Mac Giolla Pheadar. Meaning Son of He who serves Saint Peter. I know that their territory was Sligo in the west of Ireland. The surname is still somewhat common there to this day.
