Briggs family in Iowa and Texas
Posted by Captain Richard Arlington Briggs Jr <CaptActor82nd@yahoo.com> on Fri, 04 Jan 2008, in response to briggs... iowa, posted by jessica briggs on Mon, 23 Apr 2007
G'day Jessica! Yes, I to have been attempting to construct a Clan Briggs (or Briggs Family) tree. So far it sadly resembles that famous Xmas tree fro the Charlie Brown Christmas Show...yes, sad but true! LOL.
Please send me an email and I'll share what I know to date. I was born in Fort Madison (Lee County) 02 November 1960 and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1979. My father is the late Richard Arlington Briggs, Sr. aka Dick Briggs. I am/was referred to as Rick Briggs. Grandfather Grover Romaine Briggs (Born in Missouri) and Great-Grand-father Ebenezzer Shannon Briggs (Born in Ohio) are the only names I have to date. Our connection to Ireland comes from, I believe based on research to date, from the border between Scotland and England. Yes, affiliated with Clan Gordon. Probably one of many such families of that day to join for protection needs. Need to dash. Good Luck. Oh, one "story" from Granny Verona Mae (Shaffer) Briggs included the Briggs family leaving Texas under not-so-happy- circumstances: horse thieving. Too embarrassing for the uber church lady Verona. LOL. Ciao, Richard. :-D
