Briggs in India
Posted by mark.cremin <mark.cremin@gmail.com> on Tue, 27 Nov 2007, in response to Briggs in British India., posted by Sharon on Wed, 03 Oct 2007
My mothers mother was a Briggs, her father Joseph born about 1852 in India, either in Bengal or the Punjab, prbably the latter beacuse census return says he was born in 'Jelundah' which was probably Jalundar in the Punjab. His father was Henry Briggs who went out to India from Nottingham(shire) after 1841 for some reason. I plan to visit the India Office documents in the British library to see if I can pin down his exact birth and place, and who his mother was. You seem to have done great research how did you find it all out? Whether there is any link- maybe. My Henry seems to have comwe back to London sometime after 1852 and before 1861, because Joeseph appears in the 1861 census (I think!)I would be pleased to hear from you Good luck MarkDisplay message for printing | Print Entire Thread
