Apulco Zacatecas Response
Posted by Jose L. Marin <marinsportsmedia@yahoo.com> on Mon, 28 Jul 2003, in response to Apulco Connections Zacatecas, posted by Jose L. Marin on Wed, 07 May 2003
Hello Oscar,I'm glad you know some people from Apulco. I also have a cousin her name is Norma Cervantez, that's her single name, her married name I don't know, her father's name is Anselmo Cervantez, and his wife is Evelia Cervantez. Anselmo and Evelia had 5 daughters, who lived in Los Angeles for many years. The three eldest daughters got married, one moved to Apulco, and the other stayed here in Los Angeles.
Evelia is related to my father Jose Mora Marin, they are half brother, and half sister, how that works I am not sure.
My Father's, father was Pedro Marin, who was at one time married to my grandmother Guadalupe Mora. She had two sons, Jose Mora Marin (Who's my dad), and Jose Luis Mora who is my uncle, and who resides in the border town of TECATE, B.C.
My grandmother Guadalupe Mora, who still lives in Apulco, also had 3 daughters, Guadalupe "Chana", Yolanda, and Eva Mora. Chana is very distant from her mother, Yolanda still calls her mom, Eva is probably the closest.
Back in the Late 80's, one of my dad's "primo-hermano's" died in a car accident in or near Apulco. There were four in the automobile, assumption is drunk driving was the cause, but the guy who survived, never mentioned it. Well here it goes Urbicio "Chino" Martinez, Jesus Martinez, Odulio Martinez, and another unknown occupant crashed. Killing Chino, and the unknown occupant instantly.
Jesus who suffered multiple head, and chest trauma, survived long enough to say his good bye's to an uncle at the hospital, Jesus who fought what he could, to stay alive, fought the hardest to stay alive, but according to rumor the Red Cross took foreever to get to the crash scene, and was transported by ambulance for several hours, to Guadalajara Trauma Center, but the real has not been told. Odulio the third brother survived with minor injuries, he never explained to the family what happened in the accident, maybe he told some people, but never told everyone. The story is still not straight. Well anyway.
Sylvestre was the father of all three sons, he owns a small bar in Apulco.
My father has a brother Alfredo Marin, he's in his late 50's by now. And I think he lives in Corona, CA. or somewhere in the general area. We don't see him often but comes once every year.
Well keep the line going, maybe this year I'll head down to Apulco, and take some pics, and make a website of Apulco.
Keep in touch,
Jose L. Marin
