origin of surname Ragozza

Posted by Silvano Ragozza <sragozza@libero.it> on Sun, 31 Jan 2010, in response to los raygoza, posted by octavio raygoza on Mon, 07 Dec 2009

Hi Octavio,
my name is Silvano Ragozza, I' writing from Premosello Chiovenda, a town in northern Italy, Verbania, Piedmont. I found that in 1860 in Verona were two Ragozzas: Ottaviano (from Udine, near Venice) and Alessandro (from my town). Two origins, two different meanings: if you are from Udine, your surname comes from Ragusa, now Dubrovnik (ex Yugoslavia), like ragoza, a common surname in Russia, Poland etc.
If you are from Premosello, the surname is from a word of my dialect, ragotsa (meaning root), it. 'radice', and I have informations since 1570 ca.
I'm waiting for your answer and excuse me for my bad English
