cobian roots

Posted by nilsa cobian <cobianed@hotmail.com> on Mon, 08 Dec 2008, in response to Cobian roots, posted by Rebeka-Maria Cobian on Thu, 29 May 2008

My great grandfather, Manuel Cobian, was born in Asturias, in a small village calle Viyao. I found this information from my grandfather's birth certificate, who was born in comerio,Puerto Rico. So my husband and I visited this little village in 2003 and found some Cobians still living there. We also found out that my great grandfathers name was Manuel Cobian, his father was Jose Cobian and his mother was Teresa Alonso. Teresa and Jose had three sons: Jose, Manuel, and Pedro, and daughters which names included Anangelica and Teresa. (This names are usual in my family) My mother says that sometime in her life she heard that Pedro Cobian went to Venezuela, Jose Cobian went to Argentina and Manuel Cobian stayed in Puerto Rico. The Cobian we spoke at Asturias was a lady in her fifties and her name was Angelica, she told us that the eldest of her family was Pedro Cobian, in his eighties and was very sick, not living at the village anymore.I hope that this information will be helpful and if you find anything else, please let me know.
