My father is Jesse G. Alviar originally from Chicago/Aurora, IL. I am not in contact with him, but I did talk to a professor at University of California regarding the name. He said that the name was of Spanish origin and was originally de Alviar. I asked about the name being popular in the Phillipines and he said that was because of the Spanish population in the Philipines.

I would appreciate any other information anyone has as well. My father did not know his father and I have only seen my dad once in 30 years.
