Lucatero story from Michoacan Mx

Posted by Lisa <Lisavillavicencio@gmail.com> on Tue, 12 Aug 2008, in response to Lucatero, posted by saul lucatero on Mon, 31 Jan 2005

It's crazy after all these years and through a computer we are now re-connecting. Since I was a little girl I would hear my grandmother Aurelia Lucatero tell us that we had Italian blood from her father's side. Her father's name was Jose Lucatero he got to live close to his 90's. He was a tall light skinned man with colored eyes. It wasnt until my grandmother's death I learned more about our family. My great aunt Carmelita who was raised by my grandmother's parents she told me Lucatero was not our true last name, and that our real last name was Genova. She told me that an Italian man migrated to Michoacan and lived with a Mexican family last name Lucatero, and changed his last name to theirs to avoid civil war prosecution. I know that our family owned a lot of land there. My grandmother had 15 children. 14 in Cualcoman Michoacan, and 1 in Colima which is were most of my grandmother's immidiate family moved. Now most of my family lives in Oxnard Ca, Fresno Ca. I wish I had exact details. But one thing I know for sure we have a huge family.
