Treto from Zacatecas
Posted by Ernesto Treto <saxtreto@gmail.com> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008, in response to Calling all Treto's, posted by Norma Treto Mihelish on Fri, 06 Jan 2006
My name is Ernesto Treto
Im very interested in knowing who were the first Tretos (or maybe the first one) who came to Mexico. We know where we came from but nobody knows exaclty the story of the first family or member who came to Mexico. The facts are:
1. Tretos came from a region in Spain (Missing still information about those families in Spain).
2. Tretos came to Mexico and exaclty to a region of Mexico called Zacatecas. Most of the Tretos around the United States and Mexico arrive to the point that their families came from Zacatecas. I live in Zacatecas close to the region where all the Tretos are. There is a very small village named "El Pocito" who belongs to the municipality of "Monte Escobedo" which is minicipality of the state of Zacatecas. Most of the Tretos are there. Actually about 80 percent of the people there has Treto in their names. My family came from there also and lived there all their lives. There is a sad story because it happen that a lot of the memebers of the family there started to married the relatives. My father for instance is has Treto Treto as a last name because my grandparents where cousins. And a many of the Tretos are in the same situation.
I will go to research the files in the government to see if I can find a clue of the Treto who came for fist time to Mexico (it had to be during the colony).
I just hope the files where not destroyed as often happen in Mexico. Ill let you know whatever I find about. Please do the same. We have to find out how what the first Treto or family who came here and what he did.
I apologize for my english. As you know it is not my first language.
